Some of the Deep Ones are annointed before the battle for the special role of a Berserker. These are the holy warriors amongst the holy warriors. High up on drugs, they pay no heed to self-preservation, or even using ranged weapons, they blindly charge at the enemy to engage in melee. Which gives the other forces of the Depth Dwellers a distraction they can exploit.
